I want to do something new that I hope will be a regular thing here.  We’re calling it “Best and Worst”.  It goes like this:  I will write about the best and worst things that happened to me during the week below and I want to hear about your best and worst things too!   These things can be dog-related or not; just a free-for-all!

happy and sad

BEST:

* We found a great day care for our baby to attend when he’s 12 weeks!  This has been such a stressor, as I’m sure it is for a lot of new parents.  We’re on a waiting list, but it sounds very likely that we’ll be good to go come January.  It’s called Primrose and it has locations all over the U.S.  I love the curriculum, the structured environment, and their attention to detail.  It was incredibly clean and the people were so genuinely friendly.  After we left, Don said to me, “Did you notice how all the kids seemed so happy?!”  It’s just a load off our shoulders and I’m so glad that we’ve checked another thing off our list!

* We found a great place to have my baby shower later in August!  We were having trouble at first and then I totally remembered that one of my favorite restaurants in town, The Market Basket, offers rooms for parties.  I love supporting local businesses, especially great ones, so I’m pumped about having a shower there.  Now I’m just crossing my fingers that people get stuff that we need off our registry (even though some of the things are not too exciting).  My biggest fear is that I’ll get all clothes and none of the necessities.

Worst:

* Thursday night Zoey and Stella got into a nasty fight around 2am.  I think that Stella moved positions in our bed and Zoey got startled and lunged toward her.  It only lasted around five seconds because we each grabbed a dog right away, but it scared the living daylights out of us.  Poor Zoey had a scratch on her nose and was so upset that she then threw up.  Stella was ok and seemed very concerned about Zoey afterwards.  Just made me feel sick at my stomach because it’s never happened before.  I think both dogs were just disoriented and reacted accordingly, but it made me so sad!

* Now don’t get me wrong, I love it when baby moves and kicks.  It’s the coolest feeling ever!  My complaint is that this week baby discovered my ribs.  In fact, he thinks it’s pretty great to just stretch and kick so that it feels like my ribs are separating.  This is a little concerning given that I have 11 weeks to go and that’s a lot of time for baby to get bigger and be even more intrusive on my breathing.  That’s what I get for being a 5 foot tall, short-waisted, mom-to-be I guess!

So now it’s your turn!  What are the best and worst things that happened to you this week?

    Best:
Second Trimester!!! The nausea is still around, but not as horrible as before:)

I got more schoolwork done this week than I have in the past several weeks combined so that makes me happy.

    Worst:
Both my dogs have been super whiny this week. It’s my fault. It’s been too hot or I’ve been too tired to walk them properly, and just running around in the yard doesn’t cut it. They’re driving me crazy.

My sis had to go to the ER for chest pains. She’s fine, but that was a little scary.

Best: Facial by Miss Anne herself! (awesome!!!)

Worst: The kids fighting non-stop… is summer over yet?

Best: Finding out that my husband is super calm and reassuring in the event of an emergency. Also, that I am still a good doggy parent in light of the current issues.

Worst: Slamming the glass door on the dog’s tail hard enough to have to have it amputated. Just about killed me. he hardly even noticed. My heart is still broken at his tiny tail.

    I Love this blog. <3

Hey Anne. You might actually find you get more necessities than clothes at your shower. Little boys are a little harder to shop for, which can work in your favor because who needs a closet full of stuff when what he really needs is a bouncer or a clean diaper. :) When my cousin had her little girl she commented that she wished she would have received more of the day to day stuff as opposed to fifteen dresses size 0-3 months. Are you counting down the days?
