It’s time once again for “Best and Worst” where we all share the best and worst things that happened to us this week.
.
BEST:
* We finished the baby room this week-I’m going to try to get pictures up next week. One of the finishing touches was hanging three pictures of my dogs in black and white over his crib…here are the pictures we took:
.
Now his brother and sisters can watch over him!
* I only have one more day of work on Saturday and then I start my maternity leave! I’m actually sad to leave, but my body is telling me that it’s definitely time. I’m excited to have a little time before my due date to tie up any loose ends and do some final nesting.
* It was another great football day last Saturday- I was pleased that my Iowa Hawkeyes beat Arizona. Now if only we can pull off a win against Penn State tomorrow!
.
WORST:
* I’m sure that most first time moms go through this, but I’ve had a very emotional week. I’m sure it’s because my due date is so close to being here and the reality of the situation is becoming more apparent. It’s not that I’m not excited to be a mom…I really am, it’s just that it’s such a big deal. Sometimes I wonder what kind of world I’m bringing a child into. Other times I wonder if I can hold it together and not get too overwhelmed. There’s so much I want to teach my son and I hope that I can lead by example for him.
* The other weird thing that mortality has hit me in the face. I had heard this may happen, but it’s really kicked in lately. My husband drove to his cousin’s wedding and back on Saturday and it was four hours away. I was sure he was going to die. I know this sounds nuts, but I think that now that we have a little one coming into the world, your family unit takes on a whole other meaning. I actually asked some clients about this phenomenon and was surprised/comforted by how many other people experienced the same thing. Needless to say I’m ready to be a little less hormonal!
* One word…CANKLES!

The Best? Fall is here in Virginia (or so the calendar says)
The Worst? We are being inundated by stink bugs, or whatever they are really called. They are everywhere and entered my bedroom in mass by crawling around and up and over the window air conditioner. Oh God. Thankfully we have the hand held vac and sucked them all up, plus paper towels now are stuffing the gap between window and air unit.

I LOVE fall! I seriously wish we could have two weeks of winter, two weeks of summer and the rest can be fall/spring. I bet it’s beautiful in Virginia!
Best: I am picking up my wedding dress tomorrow in KC! We’ve been working on the final preparations for the wedding together, which has been a lot of fun!
Worst: With home life and work life being soo busy, we have both starting getting sick, which I really hope is a temporary thing! Can’t afford to be sick this week! = )
By the way, I LOVE the pictures of the dogs!!! And good luck with leave and the baby!
I’m so excited for you, Tamara! I can’t wait to see pics and hear how everything goes! Take care of yourself-it’s so easy to get run down on the home stretch. I had to go on a Z-pack before our wedding because I was sooo sick two weeks before-may be worth looking into.
I have to agree with Tamara – love the pix of the dogs =) What a great idea!!
Btw, this is/was LMH381 from Twitter if you were wonderin who da heck this was lol
First I have to tell you that I love the black and white pictures of your babies. Second the feelings that you are having are natural. Third…cankles…LOL. I just posted on my blog about cankles the other day. You should read it. It will make you laugh and feel better.
The best: My 5 year old came home and read me a book all by himself. That was awesome and scary at the same time.
The worst: My husband got rained out three days so the paycheck was pretty skimpy.
