I LOVE Wigzi dog toys for so many reasons. FIrst of all they are made in the USA and are non-toxic. Secondly they don’t have that rubbery smell that most dog toys do… they smell like vanilla! Finally… Wigzi is donating$1000 worth of toys to various dog rescues for every 1000 “likes” they get on their Facebook fanpage. You gotta love that!

Here’s a little video I did showing my dogs playing with their Wigzi toys… even Will gets in on the fun! I stuffed the toys with the dogs’ food, but I prefer larger treats that don’t fall out so easily. The treats shown in the images above are the perfect size so that’s it’s a bit more of a challenge for your dog. Even after the food was gone from the toys, Stella carried the Lock n’ Play toy around the house. I can tell that these toys are going to be durable and a long-time favorite! Thanks so much for the people at Wigzi for sending us these great toys to try out!

I know a doggy who is getting THIS for Christmas!! I love Tuffy toys because they aren’t destroyed in five minutes, plus they have a great sense of humor. Given that Will loves monsters, (technically they call this an alien, but it looks like a monster to me), he will be giving this to his favorite cousin. Shhhhh…

It’s Hard To Be Good

I found some holiday dog toys at Target and all three dogs love them! I thought it was ironic that Stella preferred this particular toy.

In all seriousness, we’re having some issues with Stella. A large part of it is our fault. Stella’s needs are not being met. She’s a high energy dog who is very smart and we don’t give her enough exercise and stimulation now that we have Will. I struggle to find time to take her on walks now that it’s cold out because I can’t take Will. When Don is off work and can watch Will, I’m going to work, so it’s just a tough schedule. Plus, she really doesn’t love the cold, so I don’t know how long she would last on a walk.

I’m also at a loss when it comes to helping Stella not freak out and bark obsessively when people come into and out of our home. I want people to feel comfortable coming over and right now it’s just too stressful because of how she reacts. It makes me sad.

Stella is not a bad dog. She’s such a lover and she’s so good with Will. She just needs more than we’re giving her right now and we need to change that. She loves going to doggy daycare at Dogtopia, and I wish we could send her there several days a week. I know that would help, especially during the winter. I’m even considering hiring a dog walker who can exercise her when I can’t, but that doesn’t really help when it’s snowy or cold out. We have the treadmill, but she doesn’t seem too thrilled about using it. Admittedly I haven’t been consistent with the treadmill and that’s most likely where I need to start.

I’m not giving up on Stella… but I’m reaching out and asking you guys for some guidance. She’s stir crazy and needs more exercise, she needs to learn how to relax when people come to our home, and she needs to be better at not harassing Leroy and Zoey when she’s in her hyped-up state. I’m still trying to figure out how to balance being a mom to Will, running the household, working, blogging, and taking care of Zoey, Leroy and Stella. Any suggestions would be most appreciated… feel free to be brutally honest. I love my crazy crackhead Stella and I want to be the best doggy mommy that I can be… I have some work to do.

Bag of Coal from Loopies

Normally a lump of coal would not be the ideal Christmas gift, but I think my dogs would love this bag of coal from Loopies. Anything that’s squeaky and can be used to play catch with is coveted in my house.

This little thing is my new favorite toy for the dogs. My dogs LOVE squeaky toys, especially squeaky balls (which just sounds weird by the way!) The IQube dog toy by the Kyjen Company makes them think and can entertain them for a long time. You hide the squeaky balls within the IQube and your dogs then have to figure out how to get to them. Chewed Slippers Plush Dog Toys

I’m not sure if I would actually use these for dog toys. I think they’re adorable! I’m partial to the chihuahua toy not only because I have two chihuahuas, but the toy is named “Kiki” and that’s the name of my friend, Emily’s Pomeranian (who is Zoey’s best friend)! Kyjen Company’s Tough Turtle Toy-And a Giveaway!

All three of my dogs love toys, but Stella gets the award for dog most obsessed with toys. I think it’s the Jack Russell Terrier in her-she needs to be both physically and mentally stimulated more than Zoey and Leroy do. I love finding “keep busy” toys to keep her occupied. Enter the Tough Turtle Puzzle toy by the Kyjen Company. The big turtle is soft, but the shell is made out of tougher material. The baby turtles have squeakers inside them and can be hidden within the turtle shell that is then closed with velcro. You show your dog that there are squeaker turtles inside the shell and then close it up. Then it’s a challenge for your dog to figure out how to get to the squeaky baby turtle toys.

Stella has finally figured out how to get the little turtles out and squeak them. It’s nice though because it takes her awhile and it gets some of that mental energy out of her.
